Tom Otto And associates did the annual maintenance work on the Lake Washington camera on 12-15-2008, they also added IF capability, great night vision. The Kent nest was also upgraded but is presently offline. Thanks Tom.... Past Updates from "Down Under" and other very useful information can be accessed from the main menu above. TYesterday as the snow melted I found daffodils showing 2-3 inches of green all around the house and this morning a chipmunk, none seen since last year, is out and about!
Of course, this is Central Indiana I am talking about; the situation may be different elsewhere.
Last Friday we were out helping a farmer tap sugar maple trees, strenuous, but fun - never so cold a tapping, he said, and he has records going back over 30 years. But by Sunday the sap was dripping and I imagine it is really running now as we get 40 degree days and still cold nights. We will be invited back for the cooking down process and that will also be fun, I imagine. He wants to give us a quart of syrup for our efforts - it will be prized and used for special occasions.

That was a wonderful outing Alison, there is nothing better than real maple syrup.
